This song was originally recorded by GuruShabd Singh in 1972. It is a translation of a poem by Guru Arjan Dev.
I took the liberty of recording it in a country “Americana” style. It was an opportunity to have some fun with Nick Shapiro and I on electric guitars. Simran has alway enjoyed singing this song over the years, so here is our interpretation.

I had longed for the perfect beloved, of the perfect manifested name.
I have got him in my arms and I sing the song of his perfection,
listen to the word of the perfect guru and see the supreme lord near about you, call upon him with every breath you draw and the troubles of your inner mind will depart.
Leave behind the desires which consume you and seek the dust of the the lord, forget the self and pray to the Lord, pray to the Lord and swim across the ocean of fire into the company of the holy, there you will gather the wealth of the name and be grateful to the perfect Guru, there you will gather the wealth of the Name and be grateful to the perfect Guru.
